The Pembroke Welsh Corgi!
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi makes excellent watchdogs and enjoy family life but they may revert to their herding instincts and nip ankles. Corgis have a long history as cattle-herders and guard dogs in Wales. Their low-slung shape and general agility made them ideally suited to driving cattle, sheep, and ponies to market by nipping at their heels. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is notable for having a feature called a "fairy saddle"- an area over the shoulders where the fur grows in a different thickness and direction from the rest of the coat. The name derives from the legend that fairies used these dogs as their steeds.
