Golden Retrievers!
The Golden Retriever originated in Scotland in the mid-19th century, when the aristocrat Lord Tweedmouth crossed his "Yello Retriever" with the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel of the English-Scottish border country. Later crosses were mad with the Irish Setter and the Flat Coated Retriever. The result was an active, intelligent retriever that could work for long distances in difficult upland terrain, heavy vegetation, and icy water. It was also noted for being easy to train and having a soft mouth when carring game. The Golden Retriever is still used by hunters, and competes in field trials and obedience competitions. It is effective in search and rescue and in detecting drugs and explosives. The breed is also employed as a guide dog for blind people, and assistance dog for those with other disabilities, and a therapy dog. It needs plenty of company and vigorous exercise, and loves games that involve retrieving and carrying things.
